Both Vanquish and Bayonetta remasters have been spotted by True Achievements in a Microsoft listing. The listing boasts 40K Graphics at 60FPS on Xbox One X. While we don’t have the install size for Vanquish, Bayonetta, it apparently has a 12.87GB file size.
The games are offered separately or as a bundle to celebrate the games 10th anniversaries. They’re due for release on February 18th, 2020.
Fans of Bayonetta were concerned this year when Platinum games didn’t showcase the remaster, but speaking to Video Game Chronicle, Studio head Atsushi Inaba said:
“Giving updates for everything at E3 isn’t the smartest PR strategy to begin with. So just because we’re not showing it here doesn’t mean it’s not going well.”
Bayonetta was initially launched in 2009, with a re-release in 2018 for the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo is also due to enjoy Bayonetta 3 as an exclusive for the Switch, but things have been quiet on that front for a while, the release date was pushed back from 2019 to a concerning “TBA.” The game plays quite similar to Devil May Cry and is just as ridiculous with weapons like high heel pistols, revolver nunchucks, and whips. Bayonetta has seen a lot of success, appearing in Super Smash Bros and getting love from Lady Gaga.
Vanquish meanwhile launched in 2010, while it never reached the same heights as Bayonetta. It is still a much-loved game, especially by fans of Platinum Games. It’s a third-person sci-fi shooter, super fast-paced and littered with some awesome boss fights, Vanquish stuck in my mind as one of my favorite games for a long time.
Platinum Games have a fairly impressive portfolio, one of their early games MadWorld set the UK on alert because it was a Wii exclusive, and many people viewed it as a family only console.
While this is pretty much confirmed, considering there are even 4K screenshots in the listing, SEGA is yet actually to confirm it. As such, we are running it as a rumor.
