Ever since it was introduced to Roosterteeth fans by creator Monty Oum, the American made anime RWBY has taken the world by storm. The show has gained so much popularity, that it has even earned itself its own board game.
The announcement came at one of the biggest conventions of the year PAX West (formerly known as PAX Prime). During the Roosterteeth panel, the company’s co-founder Gus Sorola revealed that RWBY would be getting its very own board game.
During the conference, Sorola mentioned that he was sent a tweet either yesterday or today and was told to announce it. He was not given any details, revolving the rules and structure of the game, just that a board game is on the way.
While there is very little information regarding the product, a moderator for the RWBY subreddit was able to confirm the validity of a post stating that they were aware of the board game being on the way.
This isn’t the first piece of entertainment made in the name of the RWBY brand, as the anime has already had a video game series, titled RWBY: Grimm Eclipse. It should also be noted that back at RTX 2016 (Rooster Teeth Expo) there was a fan who brought a RWBY board game prototype with him. The user, /u/Lochen9, actually released a version of it on Steam for Tabletop Simulator. Redditors speculated that he may be working on the product with the team, but the creator behind the fan made product eventually showed up and revealed it was purely an in-house project, having nothing to do with his creation.
Either way, it should be interesting to see just what format the board game is set in. Will it be like Risk? Or will it be just like the similar adaptation made for the show, Remnant: The Game? Be sure to check back for updates!
