Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds shocked fans by attending SNL 50: The Anniversary Special. On Sunday, Feb. 16, the Deadpool star and Gossip Girl actress were seen sitting in the show’s audience alongside several other familiar faces. At one point, SNL alums Tina Fey and Amy Poehler brought attention to the couple by asking Reynolds how he was doing. To everyone’s surprise, the comedian took the opportunity to joke about the Justin Baldoni lawsuit. Judging by Lively’s reaction, fans are convinced she had no idea he would bring it up.

SNL 50: The Anniversary Special brought together many celebrities under one roof. From Emma Stone and Eddie Murphy to Martin Short and Adam Sandler, it seemed that just about every big name was in attendance. Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, who have both previously hosted SNL, were at the event, too. It was impossible to miss the couple since they had a big moment during one of the show’s segments featuring Fey and Poehler.
During the bit, the SNL stars urged audience members to ask their biggest questions regarding the sketch show. Reynolds eagerly stood up to participate, which prompted Fey and Poehler to ask him how he was doing. The Marvel star responded, “Great,” before pausing and following up with, “Why? What have you heard?”
The SNL duo reassured Reynolds nothing was wrong by telling him they’d heard nothing but positive things about him lately. However, their faces said otherwise. The moment received a roar of laughter from the audience since it was a clear reference to Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively’s ongoing legal drama with Justin Baldoni.
While everyone in the audience seemed amused at the joke, fans pointed out that Lively didn’t seem to appreciate the bit whatsoever. They even thought she had a look of “pure horror” on her face at the mention of the lawsuit. “Blake looked like she wasn’t expecting that skit,” one person commented. “Blake was stressing,” another fan wrote. “Blake didn’t seem to like that one,” read another comment.
Initially, when the camera panned on the couple, Lively was all smiles. However, when Reynolds referenced the lawsuit, her expression immediately turned cold.
A Sticky Situation
Over the past few months, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively have been at the center of a huge lawsuit concerning the actress’ It Ends With Us co-star and director, Justin Baldoni. In December, Lively filed a complaint against Baldoni accusing him of sexual harassment on the set of the film. Weeks later, Baldoni countersued Lively, along with Reynolds, for defamation.
The drama has made so many headlines that Chelsea Handler joked about it at the 2025 Critics Choice Awards. Instead of ignoring it, it seems Ryan Reynolds has decided to poke fun at it as well. While he may be okay referencing the drama, Lively has a different opinion, according to fans.
