The first part of Marvel’s Sabretooth War debuted this week and got off to a bloody start. The event comes from the creative team of Victor LaValle, Benjamin Percy, Geoff Shaw, Cory Smith, Oren Junior, Alex Sinclair, and Cory Petit. The much-anticipated face-off between Wolverine and Sabretooth kicks off in the pages of Wolverine #41. As the longtime enemies prepare for war, X-Men Quentin Quire and Daken become the first casualties of this deadly face-off.
The Sabretooth War Begins
For most of the Krakoan Era, Wolverine and Sabretooth have kept their distance. The two enemies have been wrapped up in other affairs to really justify a clash. However, the current Fall of X is bringing the peace of the Krakoan Age to an end. This means it is the perfect time to let these two mutant predators try and kill one another again. Sadly, the Sabretooth War looks to be racking up a list of casualties as Wolverine and Sabretooth battle it out.
The first to fall is Logan’s fellow X-Man and X-Force teammate Quentin Quire. The pink-haired telepath falls at the hands of Sabretooth and his multiverse variants in a rather gruesome death. Unfortunately, the next casualty of this clash is Logan’s own son, Daken. While the father-son duo has a long and complicated history, the current peace of the Krakoan Age has helped heal their relationship. This makes his dismemberment at the hands of Sabretooth even more traumatic.
It Only Gets Bloodier From Here
The Sabretooth War is just heating up, and Wolverine is sure to have something to say to his archnemesis after this initial blow, especially with the X-Men getting a relaunch later this year. This gives Wolverine and Sabretooth the perfect opportunity to go out with a bang. Writer Benjamin Percy shared that this is the perfect time for the Sabretooth War to take place. With Sabretooth being one of the nastiest and cruelest villains of Marvel’s 616, it didn’t make sense for him to attack in the age of peace. However, now is the perfect time to set these two savages up for an epic showdown.
