Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo might not be enemies anymore. Over the weekend, the “Please Please Please” singer was seen attending Rodrigo’s latest concert in London. Since they were once rumored to have fought over Joshua Bassett, fans are crossing their fingers this means the pair have officially moved on.
Are Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo No Longer Beefing?
On Friday, June 27, Olivia Rodrigo took the stage at BST Hyde Park. The pop star performed all of her biggest hits throughout the night, from “Drivers License” and “Deja Vu” to “Good 4 U” and “Vampire.” At one point, Rodrigo surprised the crowd by bringing out Ed Sheeran to sing his hit track “The A Team” together. According to the Hindustan Times, nearly 65,000 people watched Rodrigo’s headlining set. As it turns out, Sabrina Carpenter was one of those attendees.
The “Espresso” singer was photographed watching Rodrigo perform from the VIP section. She might have been hard to spot for some fans at the show because she wasn’t wearing her usual sparkly attire. To keep a low profile, Carpenter opted for a white baby doll dress and minimal makeup. Instead of her signature bangs and curls, she also kept her hair in a simple half up, half down style. Carpenter finished off her casual look with a pair of black-framed glasses, which only made her even more unrecognizable.
Fans were surprised to see Carpenter support Rodrigo, considering the two have had a complicated relationship over the years. “This is a plot twist,” one person said after seeing the photos of Carpenter at Rodrigo’s concert. Many hope this is a sign that the singers no longer have bad blood. “War is over,” one person said. “It’s good that they have moved on,” wrote another.
The Drama With Joshua Bassett
In case you don’t remember, Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo were once involved in a love triangle with Joshua Bassett. Rodrigo was rumored to have dated Bassett from 2019 to 2020 while they were both filming High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. After their breakup, Bassett became romantically linked with Carpenter. Their drama was brought to light in Rodrigo’s breakout single, “Drivers License,” which was released in January 2021. The track was about her ex-boyfriend moving on with an older “blonde girl.” Since Carpenter matched the description, fans assumed her relationship with Bassett inspired the song.
The situation led Carpenter to receive a lot of hate on social media. She seemingly released the song “Skin” in response to the drama. The track featured the line, “Maybe you didn’t mean it, maybe blonde was the only rhyme,” which appeared to be a direct reference to Rodrigo’s “blonde girl” lyric.
While it’s unclear if Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo have become friends, it seems the two are at least keeping things civil between them now that it’s been years since they were both involved with Bassett.
