No matter the situation, someone will inevitably envy another person’s success. I’ve learned that this tends to happen in restaurants where the majority of employees or customers are people of color. In Oakland, California, one woman really put her foot in her mouth when she left a bad TikTok review for a burger restaurant, claiming things like dirty tables and rude customers. Fortunately, the restaurant had a camera inside that captured everything that the woman had allegedly complained about.
The above video was posted to TikTok by the burger restaurant Hyphy Burger, which opened up in Oakland, California, this past July. In the video, the restaurant explains that the woman standing away from the counter and looking through her phone had allegedly left a bad review of the restaurant. In the review, she had reportedly said that someone had been bothering her while she was eating and that the restaurant was dirty.
Fortunately, since the restaurant had cameras pointed in the direction of the woman who made the complaint, they were able to look and see exactly what she was talking about. To their surprise (or not), they discovered that not only did no one bother her during her visit, but the restaurant also very clearly cleaned up after customers had left.
California Influencer Lies About the State of Restaurant in TikTok Video
Commentators were quick to jump into the replies to defend the restaurant as well as condemn the influencer for her actions. Two of the top comments focus on how Hyphy Burger came to the battle armed, saying, “I love when companies bring reciepts and clearly demonstrate someone’s lying. 👏” and “I love the fact that these establishments are not taking these reactions sitting down. They are fighting with evidence.“
The video goes over each of the points that the influencer had allegedly made in her video and disputes them with visual evidence. Yes, the restaurant was particularly busy on that day, with various customers having walked past the woman in question. However, it was clean, and the wait staff seemed to be available to assist when necessary.
The caption of the video further iterates just how important the restaurant took these allegations, saying, “We take our cleanliness very serious, so when this video started circling, we knew something was off, especially since #SaltySandra claimed it was only 2 customers.” Hopefully, this will deter her from ever doing something like this in an establishment that can easily find out if she’s right or not.
