I think it’s widely accepted that Telltale’s The Walking Dead Season 1 was the birth of narrative adventure games. It’s a very good one I’ll be honest, given the gripping story and great characters. What you may not know though is that game isn’t where Telltale Games originally began. Their beginnings actually date back to a cult classic narrative adventure series, otherwise known as Sam and Max. This series follows two hilarious animal detectives (of the aforementioned names) taking on various wacky crimes. If you haven’t gotten the chance to try their first foray into the franchise, this may just be your chance. Sam and Max Save the World Remastered releases on December 2 for Nintendo Switch and PC. You can check out the reveal trailer for the game below.

What’s New in Sam and Max Save the World Remastered?

Sam and Max Save the World Remastered takes the beloved title and gives it a fresh coat of paint. The older, more dated cartoon graphics have been wiped away for much cleaner and more detailed models. Sam and Max have never looked so good, with much more defined lines and minute details within their face and clothes (as far as Sam goes). Even the world around them looks better, with much better lighting to more accurately depict various zones. The visuals aren’t all that’s changing though, with gamepad support, enhanced audio, and various additions and tweaks to bring the game closer to modern standards. Don’t worry though, as Sam and Max Save the World Remastered remains faithful to the original game.

If this release sounds exciting to you, you can pre-order it through the Nintendo eShop, Steam, and GOG.com for $19.99. European preorders will begin on Wednesday. As a special offer though, those who already own Sam and Max Season One on Steam or GOG will receive a 50% discount. A remastered version of this classic for $9.99 sounds like a great deal if you ask me.
