A new cover for the upcoming Spawn spinoff series, Sam and Twitch: Case Files, has been revealed. Spawn creator and Image Comics co-founder Todd McFarlane took to social media to unveil the image. The new series, launching in March, follows the fan-favorite detectives from the Spawn Universe as they do what they do best. Taking place on the gritty streets of New York City, the series will veer away from the supernatural and instead focus on true-crime-style murder mysteries.
Sam And Twitch: Case Files
Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Todd McFarlane shared a new cover he designed for the upcoming series. Alongside the cover, which features the titular detectives in a gritty black-and-white noir scene with their guns drawn, he shared:
“Surprise! I made a cover for Sam and Twitch: Case Files #1! Call your retailers today to get yours!” Now, the duo will take on even more cases in Sam and Twitch: Case Files.

According to Image Comics, the series will follow the detectives as they journey on a path of murder, intrigue, and deception.
The characters of Sam Burke and Maximilian “Twitch” Williams first appeared in Spawn #1 back in 1992. While the characters were rough detectives on the outside, the series proved they were good cops at heart. Throughout Spawn, the two detectives handle both normal cases and supernatural ones as well. The two quickly became fan favorites, even receiving their own action figures.
Expanding The Universe
At last year’s Comic-Con, McFarlane revealed his plans to expand the Spawn Universe. With Sam and Twitch: Case Files, the writer and creator wanted to branch out and introduce storylines and characters independent from the main franchise. This helps bring new readers into the Universe, even those who don’t care much for Spawn but enjoy a gritty crime comic.
Sam and Twitch: Case Files is out this March.
