Unfortunately for all of us in the United States, a new level of ignorance is plaguing the population. Now that Donald Trump is our president, this ignorance has only grown at an alarming rate to the point where people confidently discuss their views and opinions in public. Comedian Mike Glazer was doing a regular stand-up routine in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, when suddenly, a heckler came out of nowhere to yell xenophobic slurs at him. It’s almost as though he felt he could do that without any consequences.
In the video featured above, you can see Glazer either in the middle of or wrapping up a comedy segment at a club. While he continues to address the audience, he turns to find that one person was specifically calling out to him. When he acknowledge the person, he immediately show back at the comedian with a ‘Jew Pig.’ Glazer suggests that the man leave, to which the latter responds that he’s waiting for his Lyft to arrive.
When the man finally does leave, Glazer continues his routine, mocking the individual for intervening in his set. He specifically criticizes the fact that, because of his time on Instagram, the man did a good job of embodying your typical, Trump-loving Republican.
“Criticize Israel? Trump admin is going to go after you for anti-semitism. Actually say anti-semetic things against Jewish people? Trump considers this free speech.”
It appears that everyone in the audience was on Mike Glazer’s side, laughing along with him as he made fun of the man. Overall, I felt that the comedian handled the heckling very well, despite being visibly uncomfortable that the man decided to point out that specific aspect of his personality.
Hopefully, the man was barred from returning to the comedy club again or, at the very least, from a show that Mike Glazer will be headlining. If he’s going to be racist against Jewish people, then maybe he doesn’t have a place in their audiences.
