By now, everyone in the San Francisco area should be familiar with Proposition K and everything it brought with it. While we won’t go into details about the pros and cons and whether it is a good or a bad idea—everyone has a different opinion on the matter. However, an Instagram user recently shared a bad experience they had with the ‘No on K’ people of San Francisco, who harassed them just because they were working at the Great Highway Park. Regardless of what you voted for, harassing someone is unacceptable.
User ShibToOortCloud shared the post on the r/sanfrancisco Subreddit, but the original comes from artist byalicelee on Instagram. In the post, they mention how they were working at Great Highway Park. They share some good experiences of people praising their work. They even mention how they’ve become friends with some regulars around the area. However, they also share bad experiences. In the image, they mention how they were victims of verbal harassment and even got cursed at. As byalicelee says in the post, “Regardless if you voted to open or close the park, we can all agree that attacking artists who were hired AFTER to literally do a job is totally misdirected and unacceptable.”
As expected, many San Francisco citizens expressed their opinions regarding the harassment caused by the No on K people.
“These No on K folks that have taken to trying to recall our supervisor, vandalism, and harassment over the closure of a two-lane road are acting in such bad faith and spirit.” – ColossusA1 via Reddit.
“These anti-park people need to go home. Leave the space for the people. We voted for this.” – one_pound_of_flesh via Reddit.
Fortunately, many people have supported the artists, who had nothing to do with Proposition K. They are just there to do a job. Hopefully, the authorities will do something to keep these artists safe.
