Hollywood veteran Eugene Levy has joined the growing list of victims who have lost their Pacific Palisades homes. The Schitt’s Creek star, Billy Crystal, and John Goodman each had their properties destroyed by the wildlife. The rampaging flames engulfed their luxurious houses and reduced them to smoking rubbles, a disaster other celebrities faced.
According to reports, dozens of A-listers have fled the posh neighborhood since the Palisades wildfire began on Tuesday morning. The tragic situation worsened when another wildlife about 30 miles east, above Pasadena, forced more residents to evacuate. The list included stars like Mandy Moore, Whitney Cummings, and Cameron Mathison.
The natural disaster has reportedly displaced 70,000 people and destroyed at least 1,000 buildings. Shelter has become a problem, as TMZ shared that area hotels are booked to capacity. Displaced residents are searching for places to stay, a challenge many social media users believe won’t affect wealthy victims.
These critics shared their views on X, sparing no sympathy for celebrities like Levy. Someone declared, “Nobody cares. They can afford a new one.” Another echoed similar sentiments, writing, “They have the bucks. What about everyone else – who are they??” A third shared the same view, stressing that no one cared about the minority who lost their homes.
Eugene Levy and Other Actors’ Loss Spark Political Criticism
While many were unsympathetic towards Levy, Crystal, and Goodman because of their wealth, others criticized them for being Democrats. An X user hoped the loss of their homes would teach them “how worthless these liberals are.” A fellow supporter added, “Weren’t they leaving anyway. The political thing?”
Another supported the relocation point, noting several celebrities planned to leave the country following Donald Trump’s re-election. More social media users implied the actors reaped the fruit of their votes, with someone writing:
“I don’t want to make this political, but if they voted for Biden, that was their vote right there. And nothing will change as long as they think a Biden presidency will look out for their homes.”
As stated, celebrities are not the only victims of the tragic wildfire as it rampages through the LA neighborhood. We covered that a video shared on Reddit captured the raging inferno tearing through everything in its path. The person filming showed a building engulfed in flames, with power lines and trees burning fiercely in the background.
The camera turned to two residents running from the flames that ravaged their home, with someone exclaiming, “Gotta get out of here. Oh, sh–! Holy sh–!” It was unclear what sparked the Palisades wildfire, but reports suggested it originated from a bushfire. The flames became a widespread disaster due to powerful winds, causing mass evacuations and damages.
Thousands of residents are without power, while dozens of schools in Los Angeles have been closed. Firefighters are desperately trying to battle the spreading chaos and have called for reinforcement. Can they stop the raging inferno before it consumes the Pacific Palisades neighborhood, or will more areas be affected?
