Sea of Solitude: Director’s Cut is an upcoming title by Jo-Mei games. Originally published by EA, the director’s cut is under the publishing banner of Quantic Dream. It won the Games for Impact award at the 2019 Game Awards and acquired ‘Most Significant Impact’ at the 2020 Game Awards.

In the world of the game, feelings like loneliness, depression, and abandonment take physical form. Nothing is as it seems in this world. While fears can be dangerous, it is vitally important to conquer and overcome them. Explore a drowned city in Sea of Solitude. Darkness has overtaken the light. Metaphorical creatures bring Kay’s fears to life, and she must overcome them. Journey through the world, whether by boat or on foot. Encounter unforgivable landscapes, puzzles, and monsters as you bring Kay true inner peace. Will you be able to help her defeat the nightmares that confront her?

Sea of Solitude: Director’s Cut Features

Sea of Solitude

While the release on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 were successful, the Nintendo Switch is receiving something unique. It will be the first platform to receive the director’s cut version of Sea of Solitude. It will feature a few things not available in the initial release:

Customizable Photo Mode – take shots of your adventures and stylize them to bring out the best shots you can

Gyroscope Integration – turn and move depending on how you hold the Nintendo Switch

Rewritten Script – new voice actors and augmented cutscenes breathe new life into the narrative that is Sea of Solitude

This edition will release exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on March 4th, 2021. The standard version is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Have you played Sea of Solitude yet? What was it like? Will you be purchasing the Director’s Cut version? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
