Yesterday, the Seattle Tesla protests saw the largest crowd yet. With an estimated 600-800 people in attendance at University Village, it’s a clear demonstration of how many in the U.S. feel about Elon Musk. The Tesla CEO has done more than just lead DOGE in seizing the Treasury and freezing funds, cutting many communities off from essential resources. He’s also embraced Germany’s far-right AfD party, performed multiple Nazi salutes, and retweeted white supremacist propaganda. If crowd sizes at the Seattle Tesla protests are anything to judge by, more people are standing against Musk every day.
Tesla Protests in Washington Continue To Grow
Protestors throughout the U.S. have denounced Musk and DOGE, and Seattle has stayed in the thick of it from the beginning. Protests led by Tesla Takedown and other groups have occurred throughout Washington, including at showrooms and stores in Renton, Seattle, Fife, and Lynnwood. Along with these larger demonstrations have been countless smaller acts of protest. Stories of keyed Teslas and wheatpasted posters mocking Musk abound.
A TikTok by devinhermanson about the Seattle Tesla protests highlighted some signs seen at the Washington event. “How To Torch Your Brand: A Guide for the Modern Broligarch by Elon Musk,” read one. “Tesla Funds Fascists,” read another. Musk isn’t only advancing his personal interests, after all: he’s also helping Trump advance his. As one commenter on the video said,
Flags need to flown upside down….a sign of National Distress [Sic]
Though many Seattle residents must be feeling distressed, there’s more to Seattle residents than that. It’s easy to see something else in the faces of the protestors: a solemn commitment to do what’s right, even at personal cost. That may be the biggest thing separating Musk’s protestors from Musk himself. They risk themselves for others while he risks others for himself. That’s also why the Tesla protests in Seattle probably won’t stop anytime soon.
