Why do weirdos insist on wasting their mental energy on worrying about what others wear? And when you’re working out, isn’t it better to let your skin breathe? You are sweating, after all. But of course, some unhappy dork had to shame peoples’ bodies and gym clothing, of all things. And share it, no less. Now, one Connecticut TikToker is exposing his opinions on women and their own bodies, and putting it on blast.
Arguing gyms clothes are too revealing these days, one TikToker argued they are “so revealing that there’s nothing left to the imagination.” What a way to out yourself as a creep. TikToker Julianna Sabonis immediately responded, shutting his misogynist viewpoint down fast.
Julianna points out in the original TikTok video, the guy doesn’t find it “attractive” when women display themselves that way at a gym. As if every woman at the gym was supposed to give him a call on their outfits before they left the house. As Julianna says, “…it’s about possession and entitlement.”
The problem is, according to Julianna, too many men think that “everything” is about them. It’s anti-social behavior, and puts everyone, especially women, in a really awkward position. In many cases, it leads to violence—like men unable to accept rejection. Not to mention a general sense of inconsideration for other people.
“He doesn’t wipe down machines, doesn’t re-rack his weights, holds up a machine doing 5+ sets before moving on to another but also scrolling on his phone for several minutes between sets (but God forbid someone else does the same thing – he will go to the front desk and complain),” one person said, sharing how their brother is the worst kind of customer.
“I find myself criticizing men at the gym more. How men be walking around shirtless or walking with that weird ‘look at me I have muscles’ walk they do with their arms positioned lightly outward. Very performative,” another pointed out.
At the end of the day, people at the gym want to pump iron. Plenty of men walk around with tank tops or no shirt at all. I think you can be in this highly public space and privately work on yourself. It’s one of those ‘everyone should mind their own business’ situations, unless you’re dishing out appropriate compliments. Stop making it weird, dude!
