On Thursday, June 19, fans discovered that Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber currently don’t follow each other on Instagram. Selena’s name no longer appears on Hailey’s following list, and Hailey’s name no longer shows up on Selena’s profile, either. While the two have had their fair share of drama over the years, they appeared to have settled their beef when they became mutual connections on the social media platform in March 2023. Since they’ve been friendly with each other online recently, fans are confused about why they would unfollow each other so abruptly.
Some are crossing their fingers it was just a glitch. They hope Instagram was just acting up and caused the two to break their mutual connection. After all, Hailey went through two similar incidents with her husband earlier this year.
Was It A Glitch?
The first happened in January when Justin Bieber was accused of unfollowing Hailey Bieber. Since there have been rumors the couple was secretly having problems, it made fans believe the two were on the brink of divorce. However, the pop star quickly shut down the gossip by explaining that someone had hacked into his account and unfollowed his wife. After getting back control of his profile, Justin began following the Rhode founder again.
Just when the drama appeared to be over, Hailey Bieber stopped following her husband on Instagram in March. Naturally, fans jumped to the worst conclusions again, which forced the model to post an explanation revealing the unfollow wasn’t intentional. She said it was just a technical glitch. After getting it resolved, she refollowed her husband again.
Rumors of a Feud
Of course, there are many fans who believe Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber unfollowing each other wasn’t an accident. Since the two have always had a complicated relationship, rumors have spread they could have reignited their feud. This all comes amid headlines that Justin Bieber isn’t doing well. The “Peaches” singer has had several nasty confrontations with the paparazzi lately. On top of that, he’s posted a number of worrisome posts on social media. They include him shading his wife on Mother’s Day, supporting controversial singer Chris Brown, and wearing the controversial brand Balenciaga.
Due to him being everywhere in the news these days, it’s possible Selena Gomez had enough and decided to cut ties with the Biebers for good.
