U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Massachusetts) posted a video on X questioning President Trump’s budget priorities, stating that funding for food assistance for infants and lifesaving cancer research would face cuts to support increased Pentagon spending.
The post has drawn significant attention and divided reactions online, with supporters echoing her concerns and critics accusing her of misrepresenting spending decisions and ignoring waste elsewhere in the federal budget.
In the video, Sen. Warren speaks directly to the camera, saying that President Trump wants to spend $1.5 trillion more on the military budget and listing what she says would be cut to help pay for it: cancer research, infectious disease control, programs to lower energy costs, grants to improve preschools, food for babies and kids, loans for small businesses, funding for higher education, money for K-12 schools, and NASA.
She also says Trump would use taxpayer money for bombs and wars that most Americans don’t support, while cutting health and education programs for kids. The video continues Warren’s usual criticism of how the administration wants to spend money but does not show any actual budget documents or independent confirmation of the specific cuts.
Online Reactions to Massachusetts Sen. Warren’s X Post
Some users agreed with Warren’s concerns. One commenter wrote: “Exactly! Nothing screams ‘fit for office’ like Trump putting food for babies and lifesaving cancer research on the chopping block just to super-size his Pentagon budget.”
Others defended the proposed budget changes and criticized Warren’s framing. One reply stated: “Oh, look, Pocahontas is back on her nonsense again. Trump isn’t cutting baby food, Liz. He’s cutting the fat, the fraud, and the woke nonsense your party stuffed into every budget.”
Several commenters questioned Warren’s focus and pointed to broader federal spending issues. One wrote: “Well, Liz, with all of the money directed to cancer research for many years, you would think we would have a cure by now.”
Another noted: Instead of whining about it, take the money you spent on this advertising spoof and take donations to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Brighten up somebody’s day. Works for me.
The post has become a small piece of the larger online war over government spending taxpayers’ money as Trump’s team begins work on the new budget. And people are still piling on X, debating defense spending compared with the domestic program.
