A passenger riding a crowded subway train in NYC, New York, recently tested just how far his patience could stretch after he stepped in between two older women who appeared to be involved in a one-sided dispute. The man, who goes by @artistt2.0 on TikTok, claimed that one of the women had been loudly harassing the other, and since no one else on the train chose to intervene, he felt compelled to try to de-escalate the situation.
He explained that he positioned his body between the two women in order to redirect the aggressor’s attention away from the other passenger. In doing so, the man told the aggressor that the woman she had been yelling at was not listening to her and suggested that if she wanted to continue shouting, she should direct it at him instead.
It appears that the woman accepted the invitation because in the short video he later posted, she can be seen launching into a loud and angry rant, directing her frustration squarely at him while standing just a few feet away. Although her speech came across as disjointed and difficult to follow, she could still be heard yelling, “Call the cops on me? Do you think a [expletive] who you are?” She also accused him of having “betrayed this country” before making scattered references to the U.S. Constitution.
During the woman’s outburst, the man remained largely composed and quiet, offering little to no reaction as she continued yelling. Passengers nearby also stayed silent, with some even averting their eyes and others watching without stepping in.
How Netizens Are Reacting to the Video
While the confrontation itself was uncomfortable to watch, many viewers described the moment as surreal and almost comical because of the stark contrast between the woman’s explosive energy and the man’s calm, unbothered demeanor. One person joked, “Brother, what did you do to this country? 🤣” Another wrote, “Good job on ignoring her 😂.” A third added, “She talking to the wrong person about that 😂😂,” referencing the woman’s accusation that he had betrayed the country.
Several viewers also admitted they would not have been able to keep a straight face in the same situation. “Idk how ppl keep a straight face in these situations cause the way I would have been cackling 😭,” one comment read. Others framed the incident as a uniquely New York experience, with remarks such as, “NYC subway is the real reality show 😂😂,” and “It’s part of New York tradition to get cursed out by someone.”
