The Senran Kagura and Hyperdimension Neptunia crossover action game, Senran Nin Nin Ninja Taisen Neptune, is planned to be released in Japan on August 26 for PlayStation 4 according to the latest issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu (via Gematsu). The game will be priced at ¥8,360 or around $76. Nine characters, four from each title, have been confirmed to be playable. From the Neptunia series are:
- Purple Heart, armed with a katana.
- Black Heart, wielding sai to battle.
- White Heart, with a spear as her weapon of choice.
- Green Heart, using a double-bladed sword.
And from the Senran Kagura series are:
- Asuka, from Hanzo Academy.
- Homura, the Hebijo Academy elite.
- Yumi, the Ice Queen of Gessen Academy.
- Miyabi of Hebijo Academy.
Senran Nin Nin Ninja Taisen Neptune will also have an original character named Yuuki seen above. Voiced by Miku Itou (Kokoro Tsurumaki, BanG Dream!; Yuriko Nanao, THE [email protected]: Million Live), she is described as a “sexy ninja who likes princesses.” If you haven’t seen your favorites, don’t worry, Compile Heart promises more will be announced, including unexpected and surprising “secret characters.”
The gameplay of Senran Nin Nin Ninja Taisen Neptune consists of two different main mechanics: the Adventure Part, a visual novel-like with conversational segments; and the Action Part, fast-paced action-based missions. In the Action Part, you will be able to bring two different characters into your party which can be swapped on the fly. A minigame involving a hot spring called Nyuutou Meditation will also be playable.
The magazine added that the game features RPG elements in areas other than battle, such as experience points, ninjutsu skill customization, and a “spirit board” system. This crossover title is crafted to be easy to play, allowing people who aren’t masters at action games to defeat tough enemies thanks to its RPG elements and customization mechanics. Here’s the overview of the game’s story, according to Gematsu:
“Game Ninja World,” a world where all ninja gather.
As the struggle for control of the country intensified between the feudal lords of each land, sparks flew between the two major powers with the leading two ninja schools. The Konbaryuu mastered the art of ninjutsu through the Command Technique, while the Hakobaryuu mastered the art of ninjutsu through the Action Technique. The two camps were fighting for supremacy when a mysterious machine ninja army that used a Shoot Technique suddenly attacked.
In the blink of an eye, the machine ninja army had already overtaken a lesser power, and its leader You Geima announced to the world… Let the “Super NINJA Wars” to decide to world’s strongest ninja school commence!”
While a Western release hasn’t been confirmed, I have a good feeling that Idea Factory will make a surprise announcement in the latter half of this year. Do you think it will come to the west? Will you be getting the game? Drop by in the comments and share your thoughts.
