You might think dine-and-dash incidents only happen in fiction or the occasional viral prank, but unfortunately, that’s far from the truth. There are still people bold enough and shameless enough to enjoy a full meal and walk out without paying a cent. Redditor u/Jevus_himself shared a shocking video of one such incident that reportedly took place at Moonvilla, a restaurant in Boston, Massachusetts.
In the video, a Black man and woman are seen being confronted by the restaurant’s owners, a Chinese couple. Another man, who appears to be their son or a staff member, stands close to the male Boston diner, prompting him to shove the man back harshly while shouting, “Don’t touch me,” and raising his hand as if he were the one being wronged. He showed no remorse, only mockery, as the confrontation escalated.
The owners were clearly outraged, with the woman yelling at the dine-and-dasher couple as they tried to walk away. The man briefly left, only to return seconds later to grab the woman he dined with and pull her toward the exit. The Chinese couple continued shouting in Mandarin as the pair fled the scene.
According to the Reddit poster, the dine-and-dasher couple had dined as part of a larger group, but they were the last to leave the Boston restaurant. Instead of paying the hefty $300 bill, they simply walked out, leaving the restaurant staff stunned and furious.
Many Redditors found the actions of the dine and dash couple completely unacceptable. One user commented, “Totally disgusting, cheap ass MF,” capturing the general sentiment of outrage. Others urged the community to help make the video go viral, hoping that public exposure would lead to the couple being identified and held accountable. Some users even expressed a desire to see them arrested, with one remarking, “They should be thrown in jail for what they did.”
One particularly pointed comment read, “Getting a criminal record over food and pushing a worker while on camera is priceless. Have fun paying more than the food was worth.” Many were especially aggravated by the man’s behavior, noting how he acted like he was the victim throughout the confrontation. His repeated shouts of “Don’t touch me” were seen as both performative and irritating.
Another user added, “Putting his hands in the air like he didn’t just assault someone,” pointing to the moment where he physically shoved an employee yet tried to appear innocent. Several Redditors expressed hope that Moonvilla’s owners would pursue the matter further. At the very least, they argued, the couple and anyone else involved in the group should be permanently banned from ever entering the restaurant again.
