Shania Twain isn’t one to let age define her moments, and the 57-year-old has proved it by taking body positivity to new dimensions after posing topless in September. The country singer, famous for mindblowing tracks like You’re Still the One and From This Moment On, debuted her latest single, Waking Up Dreaming, in September and decided to pose topless for the cover artwork.
The 80s-inspired track, set to appear on her sixth studio album, which drops on February 3, featured a photo of the songstress donning a cowboy hat, a shirt around her waist, and colorful boots while baring her chest region.

In a new interview with People, the Canadian native addressed that empowering moment and the inspiration behind it. According to Shania Twain, posing naked was her way of expressing her truth and letting the world know she felt comfortable in her own skin. She added:
“I think the best fashion is confidence, and whatever you wear — if you’re wearing it with that, it’s fashionable. I am a woman in my late 50s, and I don’t need to hide behind the clothes.
She proceeded to discuss just how much she enjoyed the photo shoot, which she admittedly styled herself. Shania Twain admitted it felt liberating taking the topless photos, which has helped her embrace body positivity. She quipped:
“I can’t even tell you how good it felt to do nude shooting. I was just so unashamed of my new body, you know, as a woman that is well into my menopause. I’m not even emotional about it. I just feel okay about it. It’s really liberating.”
Despite feeling more confident in her new body, Shania admittedly still struggled with body image. She recounted how self-conscious she felt while ditching the clothing accessories covering her upper half, with some of her insecurities coming to light. Yet, Shania Twain pulled off the topless photo, ushering in a new musical era with her confident poses. The country queen certainly knows how to retain her royalty status!
