While the world remembers heavy metal singer Ozzy Osbourne for his musical legacy following his death, his wife, Sharon Osbourne, and kids have many more memories to cherish, including the good, the bad, and the ugly. The icon, who rose to fame as part of the English rock band in the sixties, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, in the UK, two weeks after performing a farewell concert with his band in Birmingham, the city where it all began over five decades ago.
Since his passing, fans and celebrities have taken to social media to pay their last respects to the legend, expressing shock at his passing. In the statement announcing his death, Ozzy Osbourne’s official X account revealed with sadness that the heavy metal icon, who disclosed his battle with Parkinson’s in 2019, was surrounded by family and love at the time of his death.
A Look at Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne’s Tumultuous Marriage After Singer’s Death
Ozzy was the father to six children, including Elliot, Jessica, and Louis Osbourne from his first wife Thelma Riley, as well as Aimee, Kelly, and Jack from his second marriage to Sharon Osbourne. The media personality tied the knot with Sharon in 1982, shortly after his divorce from Thelma. The duo went on to build a family that warmed its way into the hearts of Americans via their reality show, The Osbournes.
While they’ve remained together for the last four decades, their union wasn’t always a picture-perfect relationship. Sharon Osbourne has been open about the ups and downs of their marriage, plagued with infidelity, violence, and substance abuse. At the height of their troubled relationship, Sharon attempted suicide due to her husband’s cheating, overdosing on a substance, and locking herself up in their bedroom. Thankfully, a maid found Ozzy Osbourne’s wife just in time, saving her from the brink of death.
Another low point in their volatile marriage, which nearly claimed Sharon’s life as well, happened during a physical altercation between the duo. The 72-year-old once recounted the scary ordeal in the TV documentary titled The Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne. Recounting the particular incident that followed a night of substance abuse, Sharon Osbourne explained how Ozzy turned towards her and uttered the words,
“We’ve come to a decision that you’ve got to die.”
Right after spitting out the words, he calmly approached her and proceeded to choke her violently. Thankfully, in her struggle to reach for life, the mom of three pressed the panic button on the table, and the cops arrived in time to save her. After these repeated volatilities and a brief separation in 2016, the couple retraced their steps back to each other, rekindling a love that had sustained them for many years.
Overcoming Chaos and Embracing Love
Despite these repeated cases of violence, Sharon Osbourne maintains she was never a victim in her marriage to Ozzy Osbourne. She once likened their marriage to that of Amber Heard and Johnny Depp at the peak of the “wife-beater” libel case the latter filed against The Sun. The TV personality reasoned that neither Johnny nor Amber was the typical domestic abuse victim in their marriage, but rather, were as bad as each other. She believes Amber gave her then-husband “as good as she got,” contrary to her portrayal of herself as the vulnerable little mouse being battered. She added,
“I don’t know what they were using. I have no idea who was doing what, but I know they were both drinking, and it’s a volatile relationship. I had a relationship like that with my husband at one time. I would give him what he gave me.”
During their final years together before death came calling, Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne reached new highs in their marriage. The couple resolved to stand by each other, gave up their volatile ways, and restored their love. Through his years battling Parkinson’s, Sharon supported her husband at every turn, even granting him his longtime wish of moving back to the United Kingdom as the disease progressed. After a whirlwind romance filled with many highs and lows, death eventually reared its head, marking an end to their bittersweet marital journey.
