While violence should never be the answer, there’s something oddly satisfying about bullies getting their comeuppance. From bully Karens to angry customers to racist boomers, there’s a whole gamut of viral footage that showcases victims settling the score with their violent antagonists. One incident that occurred in April of this year is making the rounds on social media, and was shared recently to Reddit. In it, a restaurant patron stands their ground against a ‘sheisty‘ bully who has nothing better to do than to harass customers in a bistro in Beverly Hills.
[7 Dec Update – Reddit removed the video so I’ve gone ahead and embedded the Instagram footage down below.]
The viral video footage takes place in a restaurant called Porta Via in Beverly Hills, California, and is taken from the perspective of one of the patron’s phones, who witnessed the violent altercation. In the clip, we see a bully in a dark navy blue hoodie, baggy jeans, with his hood up, stood holding his phone up in front of his face. It’s worth noting that this bully is sporting a balaclava. Opposite him is a man in a brown blazer and they seem to be talking to one another, though it’s difficult to make out what is being said, as they’re surrounded by several onlookers who are also chatting in the background.
The hooded bully in a balaclava holds his phone up to the face of the patron in a brown blazer in an intimidating way, and moments later, the patron attempts to grab the hooded bully’s phone. Things suddenly take a turn for the worse, as the balaclava-clad bully tries to throw a sucker punch at the patron in a blazer. Luckily, with lightning quick reactions, the patron dodges the punch and delivers a knockout blow to the aggressive balaclava-clad bully sending him hurtling to the ground.
As the viral clip continues to build momentum online, the internet was quick to chime in with their thoughts and reactions to the violent altercation. In unison, netizens were pleased to see the bully get a dose of his own medicine.
Another commenter weighed in with, “The guy had that s*** coming, the guys in the balaclava had been harassing people for a minute.”
A further Redditor added, “Clean shot. He probably could take on a couple more before they’d overwhelm him“
Interestingly, many outlets falsely reported that the patron who knocked out the bully was a manager at the restaurant. However, Porta Via issued a statement on Instagram to put the kibosh on this rumor. In it, the company wrote:
While the police were called to the incident, no charges were ultimately pressed, and the matter is considered to be now closed. Over on the aforementioned Instagram post, one of the restaurant’s patrons summed up the situation, penning: “He’s been harassing your patrons for months. You should be thanking that man for actually doing something about it.”
