All this harvest that was ripe for the picking is now rotting, leaving farmers without their income and a lot of Americans without produce.

The farmer mentions how he lost between $250,000 and $300,000 of revenue this season because all the produce was left there to rot. He also mentions that he isn’t the only one at a loss, as many farm workers also lost this potential income.
According to this farmer in Oregon, half of his usual crew didn’t show up for work this season. The reason behind it is that, at the beginning of the season, ICE was in full swing down in South Carolina, which led to many farm workers becoming scared of traveling north to work on the fields.
One would think that the workers were illegal immigrants, but that’s not the case. The farmer mentions how all of them had valid documentation and IDs, meaning they had the right to be in the country. Still, his workforce told him that ICE was still detaining them regardless of their legal status in the US.
