Commenters wasted no time pointing out I-4’s reputation as one of the most dangerous roads in the country. “Swear I-4 is a death trap now,” one user wrote. “Why is someone always trying to blow up I-4,” another joked. According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, a driver was killed in a single-vehicle crash on I-4 near Exit 28 (Memorial Blvd.) in Lakeland. The overnight accident shut down eastbound traffic for several hours before lanes reopened around 7 a.m.
Between fiery explosions and deadly crashes, locals say the viral TikTok is just the latest reminder of why I-4 has earned its reputation as one of America’s most treacherous highways.
