When the Shovel Knight amiibo was first announced, fans of the game were excited about the potential this character could hold. Fans from the UK were particularly ecstatic. They were promised a release date of December 11 – almost a month earlier than their North American counterparts.
However, after almost two weeks of waiting, Yacht Club Games has announced that everyone will have to wait until the new year to get their hands on a Shovel Knight amiibo. The Shovel Knight has finally cleared UK customs, but will be available on January 8.
If you ordered a Shovel Knight amiibo in the UK: SK has finally cleared the checkpoint known as customs. The new release date is January 8th

Having had supply issues in the past with amiibo figures, Yacht Club decided to stagger the release dates for the Shovel Knight amiibo. UK fans would be able to get their hands on it first; North American fans would finally be able to obtain one on January 8. However, this plan quickly ran into problems with UK customs.
This whole situation has been rather unfortunate. Yacht Club was integrating their plan in order to maintain a large supply of amiibo for people from all over the world. Fans have complained in the past, and the company wanted to make sure there would be enough units available this time around.
The question becomes whether or not these prolonged delays will hurt sales of the Shovel Knight figure. Yacht Club has done an excellent job of keeping people informed about the situation and apologizing frequently for the delays. Once the amiibo is finally released and fans are able to unlock the new content, these delays will be much easier to forgive and forget.
