Princess of Wakanda and techno-genius Shuri is getting her own comic book series. Marvel announced when fans will get to pick it up and gave a sneak peak at art and the talented team behind the new comic.
Simply titled, Shuri, the comic will follow the Wakandan Princess as she deals with the unexpected issue of her brother and king, T’Challa the Black Panther, getting lost in the void of space. Yes, space.
Shuri will bring a domestic conflict to the princess’s table – while she is the most at home in her lab, working to keep her country at the forefront of science and technology, Wakanda is missing its leader. Without T’Challa around, Shuri will have to decide if she will forego her own passions in order to stand up for her nation.”
The cover art shows Shuri potentially teaming up with a few Avengers. Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Ant-Man, The Wasp, and The Hulk appear behind her as she holds a Wakandan gadget.
Writing the upcoming series is Ph.D holder Nnedi Okorafor. Okorafor is a gifted author, writer, and award-winning novelist. She has written several stories for Marvel including Black Panther: Long Live the King and Wakanda Forever.

Shuri’s fame has risen since the blockbuster movie, The Black Panther, but she has been around since 2005.
Created by writer Reginald Hudlin and artist John Romita Jr., Shuri first appeared in Black Panther No. 2. 13 years is a long time to wait to see the Wakanda Princess in her own comic book story.
We’ll get answers about the newest Disney Princess’s adventure at San Diego Comic-Con. Shuri hits shelves in October.
