Women getting harassed in a workplace is sadly not rare news. However, as time has passed and more laws have been written down, one would think that this sort of news would be less common. However, for one Arizona single mom, she went through one of the worst experiences in her life when she got fired after being harassed by her supervisor.
The Arizona mom shared her story on TikTok, where you could see her trying to hold back her tears as she explained her situation. She said that she worked as a cable technician and had a supervisor who had feelings for her. She then asked her project manager to move her to another project since she didn’t want to make things awkward. Here’s the thing, though: she didn’t file for workplace harassment since she didn’t want him to get fired and just wanted to work at a different site. The project manager filed it as such anyway, and after that, the supervisor became resentful toward her.
A couple of months later, she had another project where she worked under him again. Everything was fine at first until the supervisor began picking issues with the Arizona mom. First, she forgot to bring her tools and the supervisor berated her, saying that others complained about her borrowing her colleagues’ items. She then talked to her project manager, who said that it was wrong and moved her to another project site.
However, the next day she arrived three minutes late because her son was sick and had been throwing up the whole night. When she arrived, the supervisor began to pick on her again, this time saying she had an attitude. She explained in the video that she was having a slight panic attack because of her stress and didn’t want to talk to anyone at that moment. Later on, she made another small mistake and the supervisor criticized her again, and that somehow ended with her getting fired.
Internet users expressed outrage after hearing what happened to the Arizona mom.“This is clear cut retaliation. I hope she consults a lawyer,” one user said. Another wrote, “You might be jobless now but after the lawsuit you’re about to be swimming in money. Stay strong.”
After losing her job, the woman launched a GoFundMe campaign with a fundraising goal of one thousand eight hundred dollars. Some users had already donated in hopes of helping this Arizona mom get back on her feet. Others, however, recommended other paths for her to get another job soon.
“People on Reddit said to check out IBEW Local 640 because they are desperately hiring and would be very supportive and help pay for your education and such. Good luck. I hope things change for the better for you quickly. What you dealt with is awful and I’m so sorry you had to deal with that on top of your kid being sick and working so hard to make everything work,” one user said.
