Skully is a game that’s been hidden behind the shadows for quite some time. It got announced a while back, from the teams at Modus Games and Finish Line Games. It has the potential to be a genuinely unique puzzler with some different mechanics. Today’s gameplay reveals further enhances that potential, with a full ten minutes of gameplay being released by both teams for the upcoming action-adventure puzzler. You can find the gameplay video below and can follow development on their social media.

Skully’s gameplay video primarily shows the transformation feature of the game. If you’re unaware, the main character can transform from a small ball into several different rock creatures. Each of these creatures has its own strengths and weaknesses, allowing them to perform tasks over others. The first half showcases a golem who can break large rocks and push down others. The other half shows a rock creature that can move blocks, along with another who can double jump. You’ll have to combine all of these if you are to make your way through. All of this is wrapped together with three narrators named Terry, Fiona, and Wanda who provide comedic relief and serve as the fighters putting this island in jeopardy. Sibling rivalry takes a whole new and threatening form in Skully.

Overall, this gameplay all looks promising. It seems to use these transformations to great effect, changing up gameplay significantly. It’ll be fun to see how players make use of the rolling and transformative puzzling when Skully releases on August 4th, 2020 exclusively for PC through Steam. If you haven’t heard of Skully, here’s a quick rundown as per the Steam page.

On a mysterious remote island, a skull washes up on shore and is reawakened by an enigmatic deity. Dubbed Skully, the newly reanimated being has been summoned to intervene in a war between the deityโ€™s three siblings, whose quarrel jeopardizes the island they call home.”
