Former Smallville star Kristin Kreuk has recently expressed interest in voicing a Smallville animated series.

When asked by comicbook.com about the possibility of being part of an animated revival of the superhero series, she replied, “Yeah, absolutely. I’ve never thought about it, but that sounds like it could be a lot of fun.”

The 35-year-old Canadian actress played the young Clark Kent’s love interest, Lana Lang, for seven years as a series regular on the show. She then returned as a guest star for five episodes of the eighth season, polishing off her character’s arc. In 2011, during the time of the show’s tenth and final season, she felt “her story [was] done. I am not sure how her coming back changes Clark’s story any longer. He has moved forward. As he was always supposed to do. As Lana would have wanted him to do.”

Whatever changer her mind to the possibility of a continuation as her character is uncertain, but she was surprised to hear that her former co-stars, Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum (who played Clark Kent and Lex Luthor respectively) were also down for an animated version.

“Michael wouldn’t want to shave his head again, I’m fairly certain. But yeah, that would be a lot of fun. I haven’t seen those guys in a long time,” she said.

Indeed, the 46-year-old Smallville alum humorously noted at this year’s AwesomeCon that the fact he wouldn’t need to shave his head again would be a huge positive for him to come back. But he also revealed that he pitched the idea to one of the live-action version’s showrunners, Alfred Gough,

I swear to God, I brought that up to Al, the creator of Smallville, I said, ‘We should do an animated Smallville,’” he recalled. “Can you imagine? That’d be huge! Smallville: The Animated Series, with all the real voices, and all the guest stars […] bring ’em in, it’d just be cool.

Welling was also open to the idea, conceding that “animated could be fun”.

So, it’s your move, DC/Warner Bros. Three of the main former cast-members of Smallville have given the ‘OK’. What say you?

Do you think Smallville animated revival a good idea? Would you like to see the cast back together again? Let us know in the comments below!
