Gadgets Tier List in Sonic Racing CrossWorlds

S Tier
These Gadgets are absolute must-haves for competitive play.
- Collision Boost: Synergizes well with the meta Extreme Gear boards, especially when facing cars.
- Quick Recovery: Lets you recover instantly from item hits, hazards, or crashes. Essential for online play where crashing and item spam are everywhere.
- Lv1 Quick Charge: Gives consistent speed boosts from faster Lv1 charges.
- Counter Quick Charge: Lets you set up chain boosts non-stop, perfect for Time Trials.
A Tier
Solid and reliable picks for almost all scenarios.
- Double Boost Specialist: Getting more boosts can be a strategic advantage to catch up or overtake other players.
- Ring Thief: Buffing your own speed while sabotaging opponents. What’s not to like?
- Ring Gain Boost: Free speed bursts for simply collecting Rings, simple but effective.
- Super Slow Starter: Late bloomer might sound risky, but all online matches hinge on Lap 3 anyway.
- Item Hoarder: Lets you use items very often, but can be expensive.
- Air Trick Adept: Cheap and can be combined with Ring Gain Boost for a bonus turbo.
- Defense Item Chance: Can be a lifesaver during the last leg of a match.
- Machine Type Kits and Tuners: Great for min-maxing Machine’s parameters.
- Lv2 Quick Charge: Pretty strong and cheap, but filling up two drift meters still takes crucial seconds.
- Air Trick Bounty: Great if you can get air time often and paired with Air Trick Adept.
- Item Attack Bounty: Can be effective if you can maximize your item usage with other Gadgets.
B Tier
Useful in some setups, but situational compared to higher-tiered Gadgets.
- Spin Drift: Can be useful for Power builds, but mostly used for laughs or to annoy people.
- Perfect Charge: Strong for players with precise timing, but less forgiving than Quick Charge.
- 200 Ring Limit: Double your Ring pool but a bit costly.
- Item Keeper: Can be handy but not essential even for defensive play.
- Giant Rocket Punch: Appears often enough, can be an effective tool to harass opponents.
- 130 Ring Limit: Nice Ring safety net if you cannot afford 2 slots.
- Inventory Plus and Inventory Swap: Can be useful for comebacks but it’s still situational compared to pure speed Gadgets.
- Ultimate Charge: Level 4 drift with invincibility is fun, but impractical in most cases.
- Crash Pads: Halves lost Rings on hit can be a decent way to tank attacks.
- Extended Slipstream: Good if you can tail lead players to pass them.
- Air Trick Expert: A bit expensive for an Air Trick Adept upgrade.
- Hazard/Attack/Speed Item Chance: Pick it depending on your playstyle and if you can afford it. Otherwise, just skip.
- Runoff Bounty: Basically, an out-of-jail card for earlier Ranks. Replace it with something else once you’ve learned the maps and face real players in Rank C.
- Starting Boost and Dash Panel Bounty: Less consistent compared to Air Trick Bounty.
- Mini Ring Thief: Ring payout is too small to be noticeable.
- Technical Drift: Could be good if used with a Handling Machine or if you’re confident in your drifting skills.
- Warp Ring Specialist: Can be good to harass leading players but its usage is situational.
C Tier
Skip these unless you’re playing casual lobbies or trying out silly builds with friends.
- Monster Truck: Funny for the first couple of matches, but stops being useful once you hit Rank C.
- Short Fuse: Not worth giving up stronger offensive or defensive options.
- Ring Range Up: Helpful quality-of-life Gadget, but not really worth it to sacrifice the limited slot.
Recommended Builds

If you want quick recommendations without sifting through the entire tier list, here are some builds that stand out.
- Collision Boost + Quick Recovery: This combo is pretty broken in its own right and practically turns you invincible with any Machine.
- Power Machine/Car with Power Boost + Collision Boost: Use this to hard counter Extreme Gear users.
- Air Trick Adept + Air Trick Bounty + Ring Thief + 130 Ring Limit: Helps you keep max speed and ruin your opponents’ economy in the process.
- Quick Recovery + Super Slow Starter + Acceleration Machine: The ultimate ‘anti-item’ setup for online lobbies.
At the end of the day, though, best Gadgets or tier list isn’t the ultimate deciding factor in Sonic Racing CrossWorlds. Your results will always come down to a mix of character choice, vehicle type, gadget synergy, and — most importantly — your skill and playstyle. Gadgets can give you the edge, but mastering the fundamentals is what truly separates casual racers from multiverse champions.
