Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced the PlayStation Beta Program, a centralized system that allows players to register for beta tests on PlayStation 5 and PC. The program will serve as a single access point for testing new features and upcoming games across PlayStation’s ecosystem.

According to Sid Shuman, senior director of content communications at Sony, the PlayStation Beta Program will allow players to register once and express interest in multiple betas. This includes access to beta tests for participating PlayStation 5 and PC games, new console features, PlayStation App updates, and user experience changes on the PlayStation website. Those who sign up will not be automatically included in every beta but will be considered for participation, and if selected, they can choose if they want to commit to testing that specific feature or game or not.

Sony has confirmed that beta registration is rolling out globally, though it is not available in all regions for now at least. The company also clarified that signing up does not guarantee access to any beta. Eligibility requirements include having a PlayStation Network account in good standing, residing in a region where the program is available, and meeting the legal age requirement for that region.

The PlayStation Beta Program is expected to streamline the beta testing process for both PlayStation 5 and PC users, consolidating game and feature tests under one registration system. This might simplify the whole process and possibly get some more opinions from Sony before they commit to major changes.

In other Sony news, the company has announced all the Essential games coming to PlayStation Plus in March 2025, and they include Sonic Colors: Ultimate, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection, and most surprisingly, Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The latter came out only four months ago, and fans already lost interest, forcing it onto the subscription service.
