Sony has officially revealed the free games for PlayStation Plus Essential subscribers for April 2025, and it’s a solid lineup for action, horror, and RPG enthusiasts. The games will be available to claim from Tuesday, April 1, to Monday, May 5, 2025. The free games can be accessed by anyone subscribed to any PlayStation Plus tier.
PlayStation Plus Essential Games for April 2025
RoboCop: Rogue City | PS5
RoboCop: Rogue City is the highlight of this month’s lineup. Released in November 2023, the game was praised for its straightforward action and faithful adaptation of the RoboCop franchise. Players step into Alex Murphy’s clunky metallic suit, taking on criminals in a gritty shooter. The game avoids modern trends like crafting systems or multiplayer modes, focusing instead on delivering a familiar single-player campaign. A sequel, RoboCop: Rogue City – Unfinished Business, is set to release later this year, continuing the story.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre | PS5, PS4
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is an asymmetrical multiplayer horror game where players either take on the role of the infamous Slaughter family or try to escape as victims. If you can gather a gang of friends who enjoy playing horror games together, you’re bound to have a fun time.
Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory | PS4
Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory is a turn-based RPG that takes players into a digital world filled with Digimon to collect, train, and battle. It’s no Pokemon, but the game aims to offer a deep story and strategic gameplay.
Before you claim the PlayStation Plus Essential games for April, remember that you only have until March 31 to collect last month’s games, which include Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Sonic Colors: Ultimate, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection.
Not all the games will be playable on both the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, as one of the titles is exclusive to PlayStation 5 alone, but that is to be expected after Sony’s recent change in priorities for the new console. Sony has announced plans to phase out PS4 games from its monthly PlayStation Plus offerings starting in January 2026. Moving forward, the service will focus exclusively on PlayStation 5 titles as part of its monthly lineup.
