Game of Thrones fans may be in for a surprise. While HBO continues expanding the Westeros universe with prequels like House of the Dragon and Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, a potential sequel featuring some familiar faces is still on the table. Sophie Turner recently shared her thoughts on returning as Sansa Stark, revealing mixed feelings about revisiting her iconic role.
Sophie Turner Opens Up About Sansa’s Ending
Sophie Turner, who portrayed the Queen of the North, said she was content with her character’s conclusion, even as other characters left fans disappointed:
“But I feel that I was very happy with the way Sansa ended her story in ‘Game of Thrones,’ and no one else was really happy with their ending. I feel like I got a good one, and so I don’t know if I could revisit it.”
Turner also hinted at the challenges of returning to a role so closely tied to the finale:
“Maybe it would be an utter joy, or maybe it would be trying to cling on to something that was magic back in the day that can’t be recreated. I would have to see a script.”
Her comments suggest she’s open to the idea, but only if the story honors the legacy of her character.
Could a Game of Thrones Sequel Actually Happen?
HBO is actively developing multiple projects in the franchise, including live-action prequels and animated mysteries, with a few potential sequels reportedly in the works. When asked about reprising her role, per The Direct, Turner laughed and said, “Show me the money. I don’t know, I think it would be hard but also amazing to come back to it.”
Past plans to center a sequel around Jon Snow were shelved, though HBO hasn’t entirely ruled out revisiting the idea: “Maybe we’ll try again.” Fans have speculated that Arya Stark’s journey west of Westeros could be a future focus, which might leave little room for Sansa Stark’s return. However, Turner’s cautious optimism keeps hope alive for those longing to see more of the Queen of the North.
