People often say that thieves grow more creative with their criminal antics each day. However, that doesn’t apply to every culprit out there, as some just don’t seem to have enough gray matter. If you don’t believe us, the story of a citizen in South Carolina might convince you, as this person, who had a dashcam inside their vehicle, recorded the exact moment when a criminal entered the vehicle to steal some loose cash. Yet, the shocking and amusing detail is that the criminal stole only a few two dollar bills, and the cherry on top is that he did it by putting the money in his mouth.
The OP shared the above image, which shows the interior of their truck, captured through a dashcam. In the picture, you can see the culprit with a light stack of $2 bills in his mouth, which is everything he managed to steal from inside the vehicle.
While the situation is certainly hilarious, as it seems nothing of meaningful value got lost, other than a few $2 bills, the truth is that this picture sort of backfired for the OP, as many people pointed out their carelessness.
Several Redditors said it was extremely irresponsible to leave cash in the vehicle, regardless of the amount. Still, the OP tried to play it cool by saying it was only a few $2 bills, which isn’t a huge loss.
Given how some Redditors noticed the OP’s mistake at leaving the money inside the vehicle, they began wondering if the “victim” had also made the situation easier for the thief, and guess what? They did. According to OP, they were the ones who left the truck unlocked. If we put two and two together, or in this case, loose cash inside an open vehicle, then yes, they are basically inviting this South Carolina criminal to steal.
Of course, we’re not condoning the thief’s actions, but the truth is that OP could have been more careful. They were fortunate enough that the culprit only put a couple of bucks in his mouth. But in a different situation, they might have stolen the car or worse.
In any case, people collectively facepalmed at the thief’s lack of criminal skills, but also at the carelessness of OP.
“Who puts money in their mouth 🤢” – Subiest via Reddit.
“Yeah, man, I hate to say it, but you were asking to get robbed at that point. I am in no way defending a low-life thief, but you gotta be more careful.” – KneeHiSniper via Reddit.
In the end, the OP should be thankful that the situation didn’t escalate further, and hopefully, this will be a lesson for them to lock their car properly and not leave money or valuables inside it.
