On TikTok, a man in Columbia, South Carolina, is calling out a restaurant in the Northeast area called Stuffed Brunch for being “unprofessional” after he tried to address the quality of the food he purchased. The customer had visited the restaurant for the first time to order a breakfast meal of bacon, eggs, and grits. However, when he got home and opened his container, what he saw left him disappointed.
According to him, the bacon was hard and unpleasant, the eggs were soft even though he specifically requested them to be scrambled hard, and the grits were so salty that they were completely inedible. Now because the man has high blood pressure, overly salty food is something he cannot safely eat, so he decided to call the restaurant to let them know and ask for a refund. But instead of receiving help from their customer service, the woman who answered the phone allegedly dismissed him immediately.
The Phone Call That Escalated the Situation
The man said the woman told him that there was nothing they could do and that that they did not give refunds under those circumstances. When he asked to speak with a manager, he claims she told him that the manager was not coming to the phone and was not obligated to do so. The man said he remained calm throughout the call but informed her that he planned to return to the restaurant to discuss the situation in person. According to him, that is when she told him, “Don’t think you’re coming up here and think you gonna act all crazy,” which shocked him, since he insisted he had never raised his voice or shown any hostility. Still, the customer wasn’t discouraged and he quickly drove back to the restaurant.
He Meets With the Owner
When the man walked into Stuffed Brunch to resolve the issue, he met the owner and explained again that the food had been prepared incorrectly. He pointed out the problems he found with his meal, especially the grits, which he said were far too salty for someone with high blood pressure. Instead of acknowledging the mistake or offering to fix the meal, the woman told him that they can’t cook based on everyone’s taste and insisted the grits weren’t salty because they and other customers had eaten them.
The man said he understood that taste differs, but for him, it wasn’t about preference – it was a health concern. Still, she continued insisting that he simply didn’t like the food and that they do not issue refunds for that reason. At one point during their exchange, the owner said, “Now, if a person has an issue with high blood pressure, then they should cook at home.” That comment set the customer off immediately.
“Wow. Y’all are so unprofessional. You just told me if I got high blood pressure, I need to eat at home,” he responded, repeating the statement back to her. The owner attempted to backtrack, but the man refused to let it go. “That’s so distasteful. That’s what you said just now,” he reminded her. Eventually, the staff agreed to process his refund, and he made it clear that he would never return again. He also clarified in his TikTok post that the woman who gave him the refund was not even the owner.
What Netizens Are Saying About the South Carolina Restaurant Incident
In the comments, many viewers were disappointed by how the situation was handled. One person wrote, “You have A LOT of patience… cause she was way too passive aggressive for me 😭😅.” Another said, “I would’ve given them their food back and disputed charge. If you don’t care nor do I.” “They must be struggling already. Like just give him a refund or even offer to remake it. They didn’t offer nothing,” a third added.
Someone else commented, “You asked for your food to be cooked a specific way & they didn’t do it correctly. To me either fix it or give me a refund. They’re so combative 😭😂. The food didn’t look good at all tbh.”
However, not everyone sided with the customer. One comment asked, “You got blood pressure but ordering bacon?” Another person said, “Hear me out… who else is gonna watch your blood pressure 🤷🏾♀️. Just cook YOUR food how U LIKE IT.” A different netizen echoed the owner’s stance, writing, “I feel her 1000% if you have special dietary needs just eat at home. Protect yourself, your health is important.”
