A woman in Southern California has gone viral after flipping her car during a phone call with her cousin, whom she immediately blames for the crash. The chaotic scene, captured on video, shows the visibly disoriented driver pleading with responders to retrieve her phone from the wreck so she can “call [her] mom,” while repeatedly insisting the fault lies with her cousin.

The crash, which appears to have occurred somewhere in the greater Los Angeles area, left the woman’s car flipped on its side in the middle of the road. She, however, is less concerned with the wreckage and more with retrieving her phone from the upended vehicle. While the video was originally shared on Instagram, it’s now doing the rounds over on Reddit, where viewers have described her actions as everything from “infuriating” to “weapons-grade annoying.”

One top-voted Reddit comment simply reads:

“She’s just so annoying the car decided to off itself.” – u/smurf123_123

From Victim to Viral

What makes this video go from concerning to comically surreal is the unexpected twist delivered by the man filming, who is heard calmly telling the distressed young woman, “I’m not recording you. I’m FaceTiming my girlfriend to remind her not to talk on the phone while driving.”

Cue the internet erupting into applause.

The woman, who exhibits slurred speech and dazed behavior, sparked speculation over whether she was intoxicated at the time of the crash. Many users questioned why she wasn’t in handcuffs or being tested for DUI, though others noted she could simply be “really, really annoying—like, impressively so.”

From her exaggerated Chicano English accent –complete with drawn-out syllables and every sentence sounding like a question– to her persistent insistence that her cousin was at fault via “telephonic telepathy,” the video has transformed into a digital punching bag. Reddit’s gallows humor is in full force, with u/Touristyetti496 declaring:

“Of course she did, she caused this collision through the use of telephonic telepathy… She’s obviously a threat to all mankind with her powers.”

Though full details about the actual crash remain unclear, her lack of remorse has only fueled the firestorm. “She hit another driver too and she isn’t at all apologetic,” one user noted. Another quipped, “Plot twist: The cousin t-boned her while they were both on the phone to each other.”

While officials have yet to release a report on the incident, public opinion seems less concerned with facts and more interested in roasting her accent, demeanor, and her total lack of accountability.
