If you’ve been holding off on getting a PS4 of any kind – there’s, what, three different ones? – the stretch of June 8 through June 18 might be a fine time to shell out. That’s when Sony is having its annual Days of Play event, they’re offering discounts out the wazoo as well as a special edition original PS4.

Days of Play 2018 | PlayStation

If that all went by too fast to see, here are the details. A $350 Sony PS4 Pro (the latest model), the famed VR bundle starting at $200, DualShock controllers dropping to $40, motion controllers going to $80, and select games for a measly $20. I saw Shadow of the Colossus and Horizon Zero Dawn in there. Or you can opt for the special edition of the original PS4 system, colored a brilliant blue. Gotta admit, it looks pretty good.

On the Nintendo side of things, Zelda fans might start chopping up clumps of grass, because there’s going to be a special edition 2DS bundle releasing on July 2. This new handheld comes with A Link Between Worlds ore-loaded onto it, which is a fairly older game that most will have already played. So why would they want to give up their rupees? Wellllll…

That’s why. Look at that Hylian shield motif and just try to say it’s not enticing. Just try. If it really is too good to resist, you at least won’t have to break your wallet – it’ll only run $160. However, it is a Gamestop exclusive, so don’t bother looking for it anywhere else. By the way, the back of the 2DS is painted solid grey/silver, same as the edges of the shield.

And those are the special editions coming soon to a store or Internet near you. Love them or loathe them, it’s your money and your geekhood. Great for newcomers, old news for veterans. And that concludes our broadcast day. Tune in again.
