Spider-Man 2 was initially announced in September 2021, and since that reveal trailer, we haven’t gotten any further details about Insomniac Games’ sequel to the wildly successful game on PS4. This has led fans to believe that, like most other projects of this scale, Spider-Man 2 will likely be delayed well into 2024. But a new blog post from the PlayStation Blog shines some light on the matter and it seems fans need not fret regarding the game’s release window.
The blog post offers a brief preview of what’s to come in 2023, and the focus seems to be all on Spider-Man 2. This news confirms what recent hints had suggested, making it very much in the cards for Spider-Man 2 to not be delayed anymore, and make its release date of late 2023.
Spider-Man 2 Is Still Making The Fall 2023 Timeline
Fairly recently in October of this year, Insomniac Games confirmed that Spider-Man 2 is going exactly as planned, and is making good time. The work on the game is officially making “good progress” but they also said that showing games takes a lot of time and effort, not to mention resources as well.
This makes it very likely that the gameplay reveals should start rolling in very soon, possibly as soon as the next State of Play showcase event. Spider-Man 2 has not gotten any gameplay footage so far, but fans are very excited for a truly current-gen game that won’t be held back by the last generation.
With that being said, it is still entirely in the realm of possibility that the game gets delayed still. There is a lot of time from now to fall 2023, and a lot could take place between now and then. Let us hope that not revealing gameplay so far is a marketing decision, and not because Insomniac Games isn’t ready to show the game in its current state.
