The long-awaited teaser trailer for the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel has finally dropped, quenching curiosities around when Sony Pictures Animation may release an update regarding the animated sequel, accompanied by an even more flashy featured title.
The featured footage that is found within the teaser takes little time when catching itself up to where the original film left off, almost expecting those who are quick to give the trailer a watch to know exactly what to know moving forward. Sony Pictures Animation remains responsible for pioneering a brand-new animation style, the same style that brought Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse to life. This eye-popping medium, created with heavy comic-book inspiration in mind, contributes to the dazzling visuals seen in the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse teaser trailer.
Prior its sequel Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’s teaser trailer surprising the internet, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse earned Sony Pictures Animation’s first Oscar win. It also struck success with moviegoers and grossed an impressive box office total of $375.5 million on an international basis. The Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse teaser trailer was hinted at by producer Christopher Miller, who implied that the promotional material would be arriving, well, today. The post issued by Miller was fairly simple in content, and he uploaded a picture of a truck from The Today Show. This was indicative that there would be a follow-up post made soon after.
The Spider-Verse is bound to expand, as is assumed through the end-credit scene trailing after Spider-Verse: Into the Spider-Verse. Fans have taken to the internet to pitch in their own predictions as to who may appear, such as the return of Kathryn Hahn as Olivia Octavius and Japanese Spider-Man. As of now, the only newcomer to the franchise is Oscar Isaac as Spider-Man 2099, who is currently set to two-time Marvel Studios characters as he was previously announced to lead the Moon Knight series for Marvel and Disney+.
Spider-Verse: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) swings into theaters in 2022.
