Y’all know what time it is! It’s The Nerd Stash, coming to you from the Internet. If you’re a fan of Splatoon and haven’t yet picked up Splatoon 2 for whatever reason, or if you’re fresh out of the ocean and looking for a good opportunity to join in on the fun, next month on March 16 would be a very good time to dive in. That’s when the Splatoon 2 Starter Edition comes out – a package that includes the game (obviously), a strategy guide and some sticker sheets. Similar to a “special edition,” just that it trades music CDs and/or art books for the guide. But better than said special editions, it won’t cost a penny more than the standalone game. Yup, game, guide, and stickers for the same $60.
That’s not the only good news. Pearl and Marina, Inkopolis’s newscasting duo and Off the Hook stars, will receive their own Amiibo figures soon. That’s no surprise, as Callie and Marie from the first game got the same treatment. At least for Splatoon 2, it’s happening sooner rather than (much) later. They’ll be available in a two-pack for $25.
There’s one last thing for everyone. A future Splatoon 2 update will bring the new weapon Dark Tetra Dualies to the game, which allows the wielder to perform four consecutive dodge rolls AND fire while rolling! Also dropping into the game is the next stage – Goby Arena, modeled after a basketball court and the surrounding bleachers. You might have seen this one teased in a video where an Inkling dunks through a hoop in squid form.
Sounds like the perfect stage for a Splatfest, right? No date on the stage and weapons, but knowing Splatoon 2, they can’t be too far off. Expect them sometime in spring, and the Amiibo possibly in summer. And that’s all the time we have. Don’t get cooked, stay off the hook!
