Splatoon 3 has been around for a while and is one of the most popular third-person shooter games in the gaming committee as of 2023. Like its predecessors in the Splatoon series, the game consists of online multiplayer (player versus player and player versus environment) alongside a single-player campaign. The latest reports, via Nintendo, show off that Splatoon 3 reached a pretty huge sales milestone and breaks sales records in its first 3 months.
Splatoon 3 Sold 10 Million Copies in Its First 3 Months
Nintendo reveals that Splatoon 3 was met with plenty of excitement from the committee and sold 10 million copies in its 3 months. These sales figures point out a new milestone for the Splatoon brand and showcase the game did a great job outperforming its predecessors in a little while. To be more specific, Splatoon 2 sold 13 million copies in 3 years. The latest offer nearly reached its predecessor’s 3-year sales figures in just 3 months.
In this success of Splatoon 3, we should not forget the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet of course. At this point, the games arrived at similar periods and Pokemon games sell over 10 million units and break Nintendo’s sales record in the first 3 days after the launch. This makes it all the more interesting for one of the best-selling Switch games Splatoon 3.
Like its predecessors in the Splatoon series, Splatoon 3 is a third-person shooter. Players choose to be either an “Inkling” or “Octoling” as their player character. Both wield weaponry that shoots colored ink. Weapons are diverse in ability and imagery, with most resembling household objects.
For example, Rollers are large paint rollers that can cover large amounts of area in ink but are generally limited to close-range combat. At the same time, Chargers are sniper rifle-like weapons with a long-range for sniping opponents but are less effective at painting the ground.
Splatoon 3 is available on Nintendo Switch.
