Tokyo Game Show 2021 is currently underway from September 30 to October 3. As you can expect, Square Enix has things to show off and announce for the whole event. From new info on Final Fantasy games to brand new RPG titles, here are all the things announced in Square Enix TGS 2021 first day stream.
Shape the Fate of Norzelia in Triangle Strategy in March 2022
A “High Definition 2D” RPG from Square Enix and developer Artdink. Triangle Strategy tells the story of three nations’ battle for control over the dwindling resources of salt and iron. Your choices in key decisions — divided into Utility, Morality, Liberty — will make up the main character Serenoa’s worldview and influence how the fate of the Norzelia continent will unfold. Meanwhile, environmental damage will play a huge role in combat, where you can melt icy terrain with fire attacks and electrify enemies in the water. The game will be out for Switch on March 4, 2022, worldwide. No other platforms have been mentioned.
Voice of Cards: The Dragon Isle Roars, Brought to You by Yoko Taro and the NieR Crew
Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars is a new card-based RPG from Yoko Taro and the staff behind NieR and Drakengard series. Set in a world shrouded in mystery, you join the protagonist and his band of companions, as he sets off on a journey to defeat the Dragon that threatens the land and its people. Every element of the game, from character dialogues, battles, items are depicted as cards with beautiful illustrations. The free demo is already available for you to play today on Switch, PS4, and PC via Steam.
Echoes of Mana Coming in Spring 2022
A new mobile game in the Mana series, Echoes of Mana, will be launched in spring next year for Android and iOS for Japan. Made by WFS (DanMachi – MEMORIA FREESE), Echoes of Mana is an “all-star game” featuring characters from previous titles and will support English release.
Traverse the Unknown in DUNGEON ENCOUNTERS This October
Square Enix is making a “new take” on the dungeon crawlers genre. Helmed by Hiroyuki Ito (Final Fantasy VI and XII designer) and Hiroaki Kato (Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age and Tactics A2 producer) with character design by Ryoma Ito (Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Heroes of Mana), and music by Nobuo Uematsu.
Here you traverse through 100 floors of dungeons in a grid-based 2D board game-like plane. The battle system uses a polished and refined version of the popular Active Time Battle format where your success will depend on how smartly you build your own team. DUNGEON ENCOUNTERS launches as a digital-only title for Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PC via Steam on October 14, 2021, with a 20% pre-order discount until October 21 for Switch and 29 for PC.
Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier – Winner Winner, Chocobo Dinner
Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier, the FFVII-themed mobile battle royale, is planned to be released for iOS and Android in late 2021. The game will feature a wide variety of guns, melee weapons, classic material, and even summons like Ifrit from the original PS1 game. You can customize your characters, with classes such as Warrior, Sorcerer, or Monk, all with unique abilities and skills, to outfits, emotes, skins, and more.
Chocobo GP Races to Switch in 2022

Chocobo Racing is back with a new name! In this cutesy racing game, your favorite Final Fantasy creatures like Chocobo and Gilgamesh each will have their own special abilities which can be activated under certain conditions during a race. Power-ups in form of Magic Eggs containing magicite are scattered across the courses as well. Square Enix TGS 2021 trailer already teased four racing tracks: Cid’s Test Track, the streets of Alexandria, Zozo, and the Gold Saucer. For now, Chocobo GP is on track to launch for Nintendo Switch in 2022. No other platforms have been mentioned.
New Story Teaser, Demo, and Release Date for Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin
In this action RPG by Ninja Gaiden and Nioh developer Team Ninja, three normal people; Jack, Ash, and Jed; must fight against Garland and the power of Chaos to bring the light of the crystals back to Cornelia, a kingdom conquered by darkness. However, in the Final Fantasy Origin TGS 2021 trailer, Jack reveals his full name to be “Jack Garland.” Will their journey proves useless and the three of them end up in a Chaos time loop? We’ll have to wait until the game’s out on March 18, 2022, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC via the Epic Games Store.
But that’s not all. PS5 and Xbox Series X players can now enjoy Trial Version 2 as well, available until October 11, 2021. Trial Version 2 adds:
- Eight new jobs: Pugilist, White Mage, Swordfighter as the base. And Duelist, Red Mage, Knight, Thief, Monk as the advanced jobs.
- A new boss in the Refrin Wetlands.
- An improved Chaos Shrine from the first trial version.
- Gameplay tweaks and rebalances.
- Improvement and more control over to AI partners.
- A new AI partner.
- Three-player co-op demo.
