Hip-hop mogul Kayne West has announced bizarre plans to build a new city called YZY DROAM in the Middle East. Fans of Kanye West are not alien to seeing the star envision monumental projects that are sometimes deemed near impossible. 2020 saw him project his architectural vision of a 200-person underground city that would be self-sustainable. Before that, he gunned for the United States presidential seat but missed the mark by a margin. He’s also set his eyes on creating and distributing several environment-friendly items in stores, trademarking “Yecosystem” ahead of the big plan.
A Look At Kanye’s Self-Sufficient City
While all these suggest his interest in a controlled community with him as the ultimate chair, his latest vision has to be the most farfetched. At least most netizens think so. News broke this week that Kanye West was looking to build his 100,000-acre mega-city named YZY DROAM in the Middle East. While the project in itself isn’t entirely impossible, projecting such in a supposed desert, miles from his homeland is one bold decision.
The project went public following a website vacancy ad, seeking applications for the post of engineer, contractor, project manager, and architect. His projected self-sufficient city would reportedly exceed the size of Paris, and over half the size of New York City. Despite having such elaborate, well-detailed plans for the venture, fans believe it is yet another Kanye feat that would wither once the initial high wears off.
Fans React to Kanye’s New Mega City With Mounting Reminders and Wagers
Following the unveiling of the plans for Kanye West’s new city, YZY DROAM, fans took to various platforms to share their thoughts on the venture. The majority believe the rapper would abandon his project even before it took off. Many also deem the venture unrealistic, citing issues like landmass, available capital, government policies, and his history of past unfulfilled visions as reasons for their beliefs. Reacting to the news, one commenter on Reddit wrote,
“He can’t finish an album no way he can make a city.”
Another user commented,
“Do people actually think Kanye west is gonna build a city in the desert that‘s twice as big as Paris? There’s no way lol.”
another comment read,
“If he can make Dark Fantasy, he can make Yaris. I’m Delulu.”
Redditiors went on to try various word plays depicting suitable names for Kanye West’s projected new city in the Middle East. Names like Yeesus, Yaris, Yeezstanbul, Yestantinopole, the Yenited States, Yerusalem, Yeezico, and Yech Republic, Yerlin made the top suggestions.
Several fans went as far as projecting a time frame for the completion of the said project, challenging the Yeezy inventor to meet up within the period.
“In like 30 years we all gonna come back and say “if you would’ve told me Kanye would’ve built a whole city bigger than Paris in the Middle East 30 years ago I’d call you crazy! (This is a joke obviously this won’t happen).”
A reminder bot has since been set up on Reddit to see to it that the stakes are met. Interestingly, several netizens have indicated interest in receiving the said reminder 30 years from now.
With the growing interest, Kanye West’s new city, if confirmed, would be a project unlike any other. Seeing as tons of people are standing in the wait to see him fail or discard this as yet another abandoned vision, the stakes are high. It’s up to the icon to decide whether or not he accepts the challenge or risk three decades worth of brewing ridicule come 2053.
