Stalker 2 has been delayed yet again for similar reasons as the last time. The developer GSC Game World released a new video called “Really, again?” (available below) that announces that the release date of September 5 for Stalker 2 has been pushed back to November 20, but at least the Xbox exclusive will still come out in 2024.
This delay of around two months is mainly to deal with some unexpected errors and bugs that have popped up during internal testing. The developer acknowledged that fans might be tired of waiting at this point, but their patience is appreciated.
The team claims to be very happy with the current state of Stalker 2, and it’s turning into the game that was initially envisioned. And since the launch is very close, the developer plans on sharing more with fans before the game’s eventual release.
GSC Game World has also announced a Stalker 2 Developer Deep Dive video that will show the game’s current state and will be available on Xbox channels on August 12. This will include interviews with members of the team, a lot more gameplay, and a complete walkthrough of a quest to give an idea of how the game plays.
Originally, Stalker 2 was delayed due to the political situation in Ukraine in February 2022, and that has had a cascading impact on the game’s development, making the release date indeterminable. The team had to put up with a complete relocation to the Czech Republic to continue working.
Stalker 2 will come out in November 2024 on Xbox Series S|X and PC and will be a Game Pass day one launch for anyone subscribed to the Ultimate, Console, or PC tier. Xbox also introduced a new Standard tier that will not include any day-one launches, but will also be slightly cheaper. There is a possibility that more tiers might be introduced in the future.
