Aspyr has announced an improved re-release of Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles from the original PlayStation 1, and it is coming out at the beginning of 2025. The original game came out back in 2000 on the PS1 only at first and then came out on the Dreamcast in the same year.

The re-release of Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles is coming out on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Steam on January 23, 2025, for $19.99.

The new version comes with some improvements to the game, visuals, and even content. While the first release had five characters you could pick from, with another four you could unlock, the new re-release will have 13 characters in total that are more than the original line-up. The new additions include Rifle Droid, Staff Tusken Raider, Ishi Tib, and Weequay. These new characters will be unlocked and playable from the get-go, and couch co-op mode will be available just like the original.

The re-release of Star Wars Episode I: Jedi Power Battles will have better-looking character models and environments and smoother gameplay. The main menu has also gotten a facelift. In terms of the old modes from the Dreamcast version, both Versus and Training modes are available in the new game with some new bells and whistles like a new lightsaber color toggle.

This change, albeit minor, was a glaring flaw in the original game. Some fan-favorite characters from the movies, like Mace Windu, had lightsaber colors that didn’t match their real ones from the source material.

Aspyr likely isn’t done with Star Wars with this release, because Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, and others also got re-releases. Aspyr is also working hard on the recently announced Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remasters.
