The series was only officially confirmed by Lucasfilms recently. It will consist of six episodes focusing on different characters. However, it will centrally focus on Ashoka Tano and Count Dooku. While the animated series was rumored for some time, Lucasfilms seemed to confirm its release ahead of schedule with a panel titled “Tales of the Jedi” listed for the Wars Celebration 2022. The rumors about the series first started when a picture of a Lucasfilm’s holiday gift to employees appeared online.

Tales of the Jedi: The Story for the Release Window

Tales of the Jedi is described as an animated anthology series. The official description for it reads that the series is composed of “original animated shorts, each story featuring Jedi from the prequel era.” The series first began as a comic book series published by Dark Horse from 1993 to 1998. It consisted of many distinct chapters set before the Skywalker saga films. While the comics first inspired a number of spinoffs, the most notable one was Bioware’s RPG Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (2003). Then, the game was followed by The Sith Lords in 2004.

Lastly, it was also revealed that Liam Neeson will reprise his role as Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn from The Phantom Menace. His younger son will voice younger Qui-Gon in the series as well. As of now, Tales of the Jedi will be the second animated Star Wars anthology series. The first one was Star Wars: Visions, released in September 2021. The second season of Visions will reportedly be released sometime in 2022.

Tales of the Jedi will be available in Fall 2022. A specific release date has not been released for the series.
