Ahead of a new trailer coming tomorrow, the official Star Wars social media accounts have released a poster for The Acolyte, which you can see below. The highly anticipated Disney Plus Star Wars series was slated for 2024, but we didn’t know a release date until now. While 2024 doesn’t appear on the poster, we can infer that the release date for The Acolyte is June 4, 2024. While we don’t know much more based on the poster, it depicts a bloody lightsaber accompanied by the text, “In an age of light a darkness rises.”
What Is The Acolyte?
Set in The High Republic era of Star Wars, the show stars Amandla Stenberg (Bodies Bodies Bodies), Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game), Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix), Dafne Keen (Logan), Jodie Turner-Smith (After Yang), Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), and Joonas Suotamo (Solo: A Star Wars Story). The series was created by Leslye Headland, who co-created Russian Doll. The latest in a long line of Star Wars Disney Plus shows The Acolyte’s High Republic era isn’t one that’s been explored in any live-action projects.
A synopsis of the series from StarWars.com reads, “An investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems….” It does seem like the Jedi of the High Republic era might be dealing with a member of the Sith in some form. But, we still don’t know who that person is. Could it be Darth Plagueis the Wise, Sith Master to Darth Sidious, or his Master Darth Tenebrous?
We will obviously find out more than just The Acolyte release date when the trailer comes out tomorrow. You can catch The Acolyte when it lands on Disney Plus on June 4, 2024.
