The first season of Star Wars: Visions had plenty of different animation styles, but the trailer for season 2 shows off a wider expansion of styles from beloved studios (seen below). Like the first season of the Disney Plus series, Lucasfilm pulled talent around the world from different animation studios to deliver one-off takes in the galaxy far, far away. We got anime to a Wallace and Gromit-styled episode, so there should be a bit of everything for animation lovers.
The Star Wars: Visions trailer gives a taste of the diverse stories and styles we will see when it releases on Star Wars Day (May 4). The studios delivering for this latest season include Ireland’s Cartoon Saloon (Wolfwalkers), Britain’s Aardman (Wallace and Gromit), Spain’s El Guiri (Alma), India’s 88 Pictures (Trollhunters), Chile’s PunkRobot (Bear Story), South Africa’s Triggerfish (Khumba), South Korea’s Studio Mir (The Legend of Korra), France’s Studio La Cachette (Primal), and Japan’s D’art Shtajio (Tephlon Funk).
Star Wars: Visions season 2 trailer highlights diverse animation styles
For a massive universe, the studios have taken this seriously by delivering eclectic stories. The trailer for Star Wars: Visions gives a glimpse into the various shorts. El Guiri’s story will follow a former Sith apprentice facing her old master. Cartoon Saloon follows a young girl and her friends discovering a cave that changes their lives. Punkrobot will tell a story following two sisters hiding from the Empire and must go from fleeing to fighting when they are discovered. Everyone loved the pod-racing from Episode 1, and Aardman will deliver that as a daughter and mother go head-to-head. Studio Mir will introduce us to a mechanic and Jedi making for an unlikely duo for a quest. La Cachette will go into the spy thriller genre as a dancer on a spy mission is at risk of her cover getting blown. 88 Pictures will follow a brother and sister on the run from Imperial forces. Triggerfish follows a young alien wanting to sing but is forbidden due to the singing’s mysterious effect.
The trailer for the next season of Star Wars: Visions will hopefully hold you over until May 4. If not, you can catch up on the first season on Disney Plus.
