During the StarCraft World Championship Series the release date for the game’s latest expansion finally was announced and is set to come out on November 10th for PC and Mac. StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void is the final expansion for StarCraft 2 in which players take control of the Protoss army bent on reclaiming their home world of Aiur from both the Zerg and an “unknown evil.” The second expansion is now available for digital pre purchase on Blizzard’s online gaming client–Battle.net. Following the footsteps of the first expansion, Heart of the Swarm, several different editions of the game will be available for purchase both digitally and physically. For those who pre-purchase the game digitally, they will gain access to the prologue mission titled  “Whispers of Oblivion.” It should also be noted that anyone who buys StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void will be given Artanis for Heroes of the Storm once he is available. Below is a list of the three versions of the game that are available for purchase.

  • Standard Edition — $40
  • Digital Deluxe Edition — $60
    •  Archon Pet for World of WarCraft
    • Void Speaker Mount for Heroes of the Storm
    • Protoss themed card back for Hearthstone
    • Digital copy of the game
  • Collector’s Edition (Retail Exclusive)  — $80
    • All content from the Digital Deluxe Edition
    • Full color, hard cover StarCraft Field Manual
    • Special Features/Cinematics DVD
    • Soundtrack on CD

Along with the release date and various versions of the game announced, we also got to see the opening cinematic for the latest expansion. Blizzard proves once more that they are the king of cinematics in gaming, offering a spectacular display that could rival the CGI of many major motion pictures. Check out the epic clip of the Protoss leading their assault on the Zerg infested home world of Aiur!
