Nobody is immune to COVID-19 – not even Green Arrow himself.

In a recent interview with Michael Rosenbaum on the Inside of You podcast, former Arrow star Stephen Amell announced that he has been diagnosed with COVID-19. On the podcast, Amell revealed he tested positive for COVID-19 while working on the Wrestling drama, Heels. He hasn’t shot the show for “exactly three weeks today” and is due to return tomorrow.

The Arrow actor described his dreadful experiences during the first two days after being tested positive:

I started to notice something on a Monday but didn’t have a … test result. Phoned up the people at CTEH, had them come to my apartment, test me. Came back positive the following Wednesday, got tested again, came back positive again. But, frankly, at that point I didn’t need a second positive test because those first couple of days, just really … they just, they just sucked.”

And all this happened, despite Stephen Amell following the rules. The 39-year-old actor claimed he was “really good about…mask-wearing about social distancing”. Amell admitted he initially felt “invincible”, thinking he wouldn’t contract the virus. He said he wouldn’t have missed a day of work on Heels had the diagnosis been your average flu.

Stephen Amell is perhaps most famous for playing Green Arrow in Arrow (2012-2020)

Stephen Amell said that his anxiety and panic attack on an earlier episode of the podcast stemmed from “the idea that I would be letting hundreds of people down” due to missing days of work on Heels. However, because of said anxiety, he desperately tried to avoid contracting the virus. “And guess what?” he said, “I f****** got it anyway. So be smart.”

Heels is an eight-episode TV show set to air on Starz. It chronicles a Georgia-based independent wrestling promotion and the rivalry between its owner family’s wrestler siblings (Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig).

No word on when Heels is set to air. More info to come.
